Energy

-- by Dave Johnson

Thom Hartmann calls Bush out on yet another lie here.

A few years ago I wrote about the same subject here and here.

The article on Carter was correct. I personally received some tax benefits(a few bucks) for installing additional insulation in my house. It's interesting that the media elite foget two things about 10 years ago. First, Pres Clinton floated a BTU tax idea as well as increased CAFE standards to promote energy conservation. Secondly, the Republicans and Gringrich took over congress - end of conservation talk.

Have you checked out the profits the oil companies are making on the current price of gasoline? This is obscene. It's hardly a conservation solution, but whatever happened to price ceilings to prevent abuses like this?

This entire country has long term memory problems. We're still benefitting from Carter's policies and the fact they existed (and still do) doesn't even cross our collective minds.
