Social Security Is Different

-- by Dave Johnson

Just so there is no misunderstanding, everything I have been saying approving last night's compromise on the filibuster does not mean that any Democrats should "compromise" on Social Security. There is nothing that needs "reforming."

Democrats have an alternative plan. It's called Social Security.

I disagree. This is a perfect issue to use to talk about a more progressive tax system. Let's admit that there are potential problems in the distance, and raise the cap now.

Lot's of people have talked about 97k, I'd just like to see a big round 100k. Congress will steal anything extra that's not nailed down anyway, so let's plan on keeping extra just in case.

I think we have made a mistake by fighting this entirely in the political arena. We need to take it to the crony capitalists who are pushing this monstrosity.
