Keep in mind that the real purpose of this nomination at this time is to distract us from the Rove problem.
I gather that on the whole he's a dedicated member of the Federalist Society. There's already been a demonstration against this appointment this morning in NYC in Union Square Park; pretty remarkable, considering that his is going to be the hottest day here in three years.
The demonstration was based, I gather, on the assumption that he'll vote to dispose of Roe vs. Wade. Threatening women with this is like threatening blacks with sending them back into slavery, isn't it?
