Amazon Rainforest Disappearing Twice As Fast As Previously Thought

-- by Thomas Leavitt

U.K. Green Party release: Greens shocked by selective logging revelation

The Green Party today expressed shock and concern as satellite pictures revealed that the destruction of the Amazon rainforest has been underestimated by as much as 60%.
"...selective logging is destroying areas at a rate comparable to conventional logging, we are losing the rainforest at twice the rate we previously thought..."

We are all Rapa Nui now.

Actually, the chief reason the rainforest is dissapearing is that poor, jobless natives are harvesting the trees to build shelters and for fuel. If you want them to stop, maybe we can move some corporations in there and employ them at a few dollars an hour (which is a relatively high wage for that part of the world. People earn an average of $1-2/hr in those countries) which would improve their livelyhood and allow them to buy houses and use electrical power to heat their homes and cook their food.

But, I don't expect leftists to advocate something intelligent like that...

the rain forestas ia comlex system of life and has many differnt fearturers. The rain forest is a beautiful place. It also contains many of our needs, yet they continue destroying it. The Earth was almost all rain forest now only an
small pecentage is left. One day there might not even be a rain forest, if the pollution, trees being cut down and excetra.

If there were no more trees. Where would all the animals live? Most of the animals and humand depend on the rain forests. Many pollutants such
as factories. The factories create lots of smoke which creates carbon dioxide. This will kill plant and animal life as well.Such simple things such as littering can effect the biome or rain forest around you. If you had a choice what would you? One day when all the trees have been destroyed where do you think we will get our needs like medicine, choclate, wood and more.
This could cause a serios problem. What do you think???
