Marketing and Branding

I strongly recommend that everyone read Daily Kos: Marketing, Branding, and Why We Can't Win in '06.
Those of you who assume that either A) bad numbers for Republicans automatically translate to good numbers for Democrats, or B) the message we communicate in relation to the nation's #1 issue isn't a vital element of the party's brand, or C) voters will embrace an ill-conceived brand, are sorely and dangerously mistaken.Without a unified party, a consistent brand, or a coherent message, we're not even giving Joe and Jane Voter an alternative that they can justify. If anything, we're giving them a negative brand message that, carried out too much longer, will actually do us harm come November.

I couldn't agree more, and it had better be a positive message. Dole lost his campaign for president because his entire message was "This guy's no good" about Clinton. After that huge campaign starting the day he was elected to ruin Clinton, that was the best they could come up with. We're going to be in exactly the same spot if we aren't careful.
The question is, the country's in a hideous mess in every way, we've just passed another tax cut, for God's sake, so WHAT ARE THE DEMOCRATS OFFERING TO GET US OUT OF THE SEWER?

All good & fine & perfectly reasonable, but I think Dems will not win (read WILL LOSE) in '06 for a very different reason: There are so many DINO's, borderline DINO's, and Dems who Repugs can and will paint with the broad brush of Beltway corruption, that a flood of new faces will run and split the Dem ticket six ways to Sunday while the Repugs hold their voters together.
We're DOOMED.

Add to that the rigged voting machines that have been proven to be fixed but still not replaced and you have a recipe for this countrys continued decent down the slippery slope. This is really getting to be scarey. I don't hear much from the dems and almost nothing from the indepens or greens. What has to happen in order for us to have a political machine with the courage to fight back and not be afraid of being called "names". By remaining silent, they are living up to the very names that they fear being called. Maybe we need to get together and form a new political party instead of waiting for the dead to be resurected.
