Karl Rove Still Has A Security Clearance

-- by Dave Johnson

firedoglake has Classified Information Oughtn't Be Gamed by Team Libby,

Scooter Libby violated his SF 312 by disclosing classified information. Further, so far as we know publicly, he did not follow his affirmative duty to turn in Karl Rove nor himself for doing this -- with Matt Cooper, with Robert Novak, with Judy Miller, and with who knows which other journalists about town as the pushback on Joe and Valerie Wilson was in full swing.

And while we're talking about it, Karl Rove, as far as we know publicly, failed to do the same. Why is it that Karl Rove still has his high level security clearance? THAT is a question that journalists ought to be repeatedly asking until this Administration gives an answer -- since Karl has admitted to revealing Valerie Wilson's job to Matt Cooper and Bob Novak, his clearance, had he been treated like any other governmental employee or any other person in this nation who holds such a clearance, would have been immediately suspended, pending investigation, and likely yanked altogether once his admissions were confirmed.

Yet there he sits, with who knows how much classified information moving across his desk, his access intact. The Bush Administration consistently brings up legal violations in others, but when the laws are to be applied to them, it's "we don't have to follow the rules -- those are for little people."

Laws are for the little people.

Of course Rove has a clearance, there was a stick shortage but carrots were plentiful.

Rove hasn't done anything wrong, there is no justifiable reason to pull his clearance.

He might not be the leaker after all. It was possibly Hadley or Armitage. Maybe that's why, combined with the fact that he knows where the bodies are buried, that keeps him at his desk.

Rove SAID that he talked to a reporter about Valerie Plame working for the CIA.

That would get anyone else's security clearance immediately pulled. But for Republicans, laws are for the little people.

There are hundreds of men wasting away in Gitmo on a lot less evidence than there is against Rove.

Dave,

As usual, you have no idea what you're talking about. Rove appeared before the grand jury looking into the matter, had he done anything wrong he would have been indicted. Period.

1) You lose your security clearance for talking to ANYONE about classified information. Indictment is a different thing.

2) Libby was indicted for BLOCKING THE INVESTIGATION into Rove.

3) The indictments are not done yet.

Wow! Sick of Spin sure does like to spin!

Rove hasn't done anything wrong, there is no justifiable reason to pull his clearance.

Seems Sick of Spin has an inside to the Grand Jury and knows the facts. So, tell us Sick, how do you know that Rove did nothing wrong? Have you read the law that was broken? Do you understand that it is the CIA that initiated the investigation? What do you know that we don't know to prove that Rove has done nothing wrong, and have you informed the Grand Jury of your information?

Oh dear! More spin from Sick of Spin!

Rove appeared before the grand jury looking into the matter, had he done anything wrong he would have been indicted. Period.

Period! Yes. That is how these things always work! You appear, you talk, then you get thrown into jail!

Thanks for the lesson in judicial procedures Sick!

Reason and truth are delivered to your front door, but since it is contrary to the STF agenda, STF simply refuses to acknowledge it.

Again, had Rove been guilty of any wrongdoing, he would have been indicted right along with Libby. Yes, it is that simple.

Any claims you've made regarding Rove in this thread are nothing short of blatant misinformation. You know nothing of what you speak.

Translation: I am right, you are wrong. You are Liberals, thus, dumb and blind and refuse to bow to my superior knowledge of Reason and Truth, thus you are ignorant.

Again, had Rove been guilty of any wrongdoing, he would have been indicted right along with Libby. Yes, it is that simple.

Translation: I am ignoring the fact that the investigation is ongoing.

Translation: I'm not listening to you! (Covers ears.) You are ignorant and anything you say is wrong.

David,

You can play silly little games of denial all you want, but the fact is that had Rove done anything wrong, he would have been indicted alongside Libby. I'm not ignoring anything. I'm just spelling reality out for you. It's you who choosed to ignore it. So yes, I am right, and you are wrong - again.
