Breaking - Tom DeLay Drops Out
I just heard that Tom DeLay will drop out of his re-election race. I'll post more as I hear about this.
Update - DeLay to drop from congressional race. He is cutting and running, afraid to face the voters. He will probably also just sort of stop working as a Congresman as well. I suspect he knows an indictment is coming soon. I wonder how many "Culture of Corruption" Republicans will be indicted, if the system is working?

He made his big announcement this morning, grinning as usual. More rolling heads to follow, I'm sure.

My initial thoughts of this news were that his legal defense fund must be running low. Once you quit a campaign, I think you can "re-purpose" all of the accumulated campaign money into other things, like your personal legal defense fund. Those crooked defense lawyers are rather expensive.
Is that the world's tiniest violin I hear playing in the distance?

That is the big question, isn't it? The Republicans are calculating that if they toss DeLay overboard they can stay afloat...but if Ney is indicted, and if there are active investigations of (say) John Doolittle, Jim Ryun, and/or Conrad Burns, it becomes a whole lot harder for them to deflect the 'culture of corruption' charge.
