Excellent idea ! ! I can't see any reason why Obama should back down from taxing really high incomes, even with the de/recession. If the new team thinks it's necessary to raise the tax-hike income a bit, fine, but above say $500,000 per year I fail to see how such a change could possibly slow the economy down. Yet it will leave plenty of incentive for people to earn generous real-world (as opposed to fantasy island) salaries.
