We were attacked on 9/11 after the Bush administration ignored a memo titled, "Bin Laden Determined To Strike In US," and went on vacation. Never forget that.
But the Republicans are spouting the "We haven't been attacked since 9/11" as an accomplishment!
We were attacked on 9/11 because they screwed up, and then they used that to divide the country and push a right-wing agenda, Dept of Homeland Security getting unions out of the government, tax cuts, invading Iraq, etc.

I agree completely.
What I hate is that there probably wouldn't have been an attack no matter what! Bush has made us far less safe, but because something that wasn't supposed to happen didn't happen, they think they can claim victory.
Plus, like you're saying, why is it that after the worst terrorist attack on US soil - ever - Bush and his cronies are trying to imply they've had a great security record?

And of course there're the unsolved anthrax attack cases, which have been pushed down the memory hole. There are no such things as right-wing failures. If you believe there are, you must be insane.
The FBI rewrote a Minneapolis agent's memo, to make it less likely to support a search warrant of the "twentieth hijacker." An intelligence director tried to get through to President Bush about the danger of an attack, and Bush finally responded, "You've covered your ass." The FBI marginalized and finally drove out their top man on Al Qaeda the summer before the attacks. He ultimately died in the attack on the WTC.
9/11 was a disaster for America, but a bonanza for the Bush Administration.
